Taking care of your MALIN coat
The coat is made with Ventile/Etaproof fabric which is the highest quality 100% cotton fabric available. The fabric is finished in an industrial process that impregnates it with
flurocarbon treatment that greatly enhances it's waterproof properties. The enemies of the flurocarbon treatment and therefore the coat are Hot washing, Washing with detergent and Dry
cleaning.
DO NOT:
Hot wash the coat
Use detergent on the coat
Dry clean the coat
DO:
Follow the wash and reproof advice below. It is simple and effective. Washing
Do not dry-clean the jackets and do not spot clean with any solvents.
Do not use washing detergent.
Do not hot wash the coat.
The coat must only bewashed with a pure soap at a max 40 degrees celsius.
If you wash it you should reproof it as well
If you are only interested in reproffing it, you are advised to wash it first in any case.
To wash:
1. Wash in a washing machine on an ordinary cycle at max 40 degrees using 50 ml of Granger's extreme cleaner or an other pure soap in the soap dispenser. Do not use more soap than
this.
2. Leave in for another rinse-only cycle without adding any cleaner to ensure all traces of soap are rinsed out. It is important not to leave any residue of soap inthe fabric.
Reproofing
We recommend reproofing your jacket periodically as it tops up the flurocarbon finish in the fabric that is lost gradually through use. When recommended that you wash the jacket first as
per the advice above.
To reproof:
1. Place jacket in washing machine on a basic wash and rinse programme at 40 degrees without soap.
2. When cycle commences allow a minute to pass so that the cylinder begins to fill with water.
3. Pour 50ml Granger's extreme wash in waterproofer into a jug, add warm water to dilute and pour into soap dispenser. donot use more than 50ml waterproofer.
4. When cycle is complete and the jacket spun, place in a warm tumbledryer until very nearly dry.
5. Hang jacket on a coathanger in a warm room until dry.
6. Return to tumbledryer for 30 mins.
The Storm Collar and Hood
The jacket comes with a detachable storn collar which is unique feature. Whilst the jacket has an integral collar of its own, the storm collar prevents water from trickling down your
neck. The optional full size hood can be attached in place of the storm collar and is designed large in order to be worn over a hat. We recommend you use one or other at all times.
The Studs and Poppers
The brass studs on new jackets are usually stiff to open. Take care at first to ease the studs open. With time they become less stiff.
